Spread awareness! Endo is way, way more than just intense cramps. If you, or someone you know, are suffering from any of these symptoms, you should be checked out! It presents differently in every person so you don’t need all of these to be suffering from endo.

It’s March which means it’s Endo Awareness Month. If you know 10 women, you know this disease. Help raise awareness because we really need a cure.

I’m not sure my legs will ever function again from the burning and shaking but it feels so good to feel well enough to do something I love.

Endo awareness extra: what a difference a week makes. I think I had a cyst rupture over the weekend but the difference is pretty shocking.

Day 26 {do you talk openly about endometriosis} You’ve probably guessed by now that the answer is yes. Except at work. The only way to start making change is to start making noise! Let’s be heard and let’s speak up!

Day 25 {how has your relationships with friends and family been affected} as I said before, I’m not the most fun or reliable. My family and friends are my everything though. You guys make it all ok! For anyone who wonders what it’s like to live with a chronic illness, there’s no better analogy than the Spoon Theory [http://www.butyoudontlooksick.com/articles/written-by-christine/the-spoon-theory/]. Check it out!

Day 24 {how have you been treated by the medical community and what would you say to them} I have been treated horribly. I have been told “you are a girl. Get over it.”, “you are a girl. Take some Advil.” And most offensive, “I will not support your drug habits”. I would tell these so called professionals that my condition is not a result of simply being a girl. That they don’t understand what I live with daily or how strong I have to be just to function sometimes. I will tell them that their ignorance has become a voice of doubt in my mind on many occasions but that I know I’m not crazy and that what I am experiencing needs to be talked about and dealt with. How I feel about this disease is a lot like this picture. Like I’m standing on the edge of a cliff looking at this water and I can’t tell how deep it is but that I know if I fall, I will keep swimming and fighting. After all, That’s what I do every. single. day.

Day 23 {have you tried alternative therapies and were they successful} I have tried many alternative therapies however the most successful for me was the endometriosis diet and acupuncture. This was me at the best point since my diagnosis. I was happy, healthy and most importantly, had minimal pain. My goal is to get back to this girl. She glowed.
